A LITTLE PARTY NEVER KILLED NOBODY

I know it's been over a year since the Great Gatsby revival, but I think flapper fashion is something that'll last for more decades to come. When the movie was released in 2013, everyone caught on with the trend. Fashion, music, and parties were all themed to fit the fiesty and glamorous style of the 20's. I personally had mixed emotions about it. On one hand, I could not deny my attraction to their extravagant take on being chic, (this being exceptionally true for the ladies). On the other hand, I found that it's so easy to look costume-y and tacky in this kind of style.

The resolution to my thoughts came in this AMAZING Fringed "Ebbie" Dress from TFNC LONDON. I can't even begin to explain how much I love it! It's got a touch of the 20's with its shapeless silhouette and with it's tassels swaying to and fro at the hem. Definitely a plus for all you flapper fanatics out there. Now looking at it as a whole, you see a subtly sexy midi slip dress. I just can't spell it out specifically, but wearing this piece is instant chic! It's class and comfort in one. This is my kind of Gatsby fashion.

COZY

Statement Necklace c/o APPLE IN EYE

Is this season leaving you too lazy to dress up? If you're just not in the mood to squeeze into your skinny jeans, or if a dress is simply out of the question, here's a tip on how to achieve a sloppy kind of chic.

Aside from being super comfortable, loose clothing can give off an air of being effortlessly stylish. If you're still looking for the right oversized items to add to your wardrobe, my friendly advice would be to go for cute sweaters, boxy tops, boyfriend jackets, paperbag shorts, and tapering slacks. These stuff are pretty basic. So even when you're opting for a dressier outfit, you can still use these for mixing and matching. Take a cue from my loose gray SWEATER from 6KS. Pair your simple looks with flashy accessories like my STATEMENT NECKLACE from APPLE IN EYE JEWELRY. Outfits like this are perfect to let our accessories do the talking. Why not give this look a try? Let me know how it goes! I'd love to hear all about it.

SHIFT

by Aileen Belmonte

Shift Dress c/o MISSGUIDED
AMISCO Heels
VINTAGE Clutch

I've always admired people who could look so effortlessly chic in a shift dress. These mod-inspired, pieces have made their way back into the fashion scene in different prints, textures and designs. I thought I'd give this trend a shot in the form of this pretty halterneck NIKOLA DRESS from MISSGUIDED. That halter neckline is definitely a plus in my book.

A shapeless dress may be a bit overpowering on us Filipinas. Let's face it, only a chosen few of our population would stand above 5'5. Wearing something this flat, will have the tendency to hide our figures and stunt our height. So make sure to get your heels ready, and challenge yourself to make your look more interesting. Your shift dress experience may leave you pleasantly surprised.
